Let’s talk about our education system from an unflattering view—for the sole reason that it is destroying our fascinating, creative minds. Schools are killing creativity at large, and the blame is squarely on the orientation of the system. They establish a hierarchy of subjects

According to an education scholar, Ken Robinson, schools prioritize some subjects like mathematics and languages over humanities, and subjects related to arts lie at the very bottom of the hierarchical pyramid. Subjects like art, music, woodwork, and others at the bottom of the pre-established hierarchy are not given any importance. Students are asked to conform to intellectual ideologies

Instead of being encouraged to have their own narrative and create something that will inspire their passion, students are asked to conform to an ideology that they actually don’t relate to. Robinson stated in a follow-up talk that there is high need of reforming by providing personalized education to those who are actually there to study. The content in play is irrelevant to the dynamic world setups, which keep the students from drawing relations and practically applying their knowledge.

Marks are awarded to students for factual information

Students are not motivated to adopt idealistic and visionary presentations in the schools, which means that marks are only awarded to students that learn and present factual content that has been pre-established and provided by the teachers with the syllabi. This educational system is slowly eliminating creativity from the young generation as students are not given the license to explore or re-design the information that they have been able to learn over time.
